Due to recent changes in the Agency for Health Care Administration’s (AHCA) Rule 58A-6, Florida Administrative Code, the food service activities for Adult Day Care Centers are address in the same manner as all other food service establishments, which are issued a Sanitation Certificate (food license)
Physical Plant or Group Care Inspection?
There is no group care or physical plant inspection component from the Department of Health. However, the Department works with Adult Daycare Facilities to ensure safe food service practices.
The Department of Health does inspect all level of food service whether food is catered into the facility or prepared directly by the facility. A Department of Health food permit (Sanitation Certificate), is required for any level of food service activity. As with other food service establishments licensed by the Department, the equipment requirements and fees are determined by the extent or level of food preparation and service. Application, Plan Review, and Permit: are processed by the Environmental Health section of the County Health Departments.
